The Mazda RX saw its final days in 2012, and now almost three years after its demise, the company's CEO, Masamichi Kogai, has confirmed that there are no plans in the future to bring back the RX. The brand would like to use its resources on improving its current seven-car lineup instead in order to take the nameplate to the next level and maintain Mazda's reputation as a top competitor in the automotive market.
In more recent years, Mazda has been steadily developing its line of SKYACTIV technologies and the company wants to continue building the roster. Another RX-8 model would take away from the brand's focus on refining their current collection and cultivating lower incentives. The majority of Mazda's lineup is currently outfitted with SKYACTIV; however, the Mazda5 and CX-9 have yet to receive the innovative powertrains and mechanics. With Mazda's plans to enhance the technologies, there's a chance these models could get the SKYACTIV treatment.
Since Mazda first began incorporating SKYACTIV technologies in their cars, they have developed over one million SKYACTIV models. To take a look at each performance-forward variant, visit Reliable Mazda to browse our lineup.
