Mazda Unveils Vision for Long-Term Technology Development

Mazda Unveils Plan for Technology Development

Recently, Mazda announced “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030,” a plan for future technology development that leads to the year 2030. The vision includes development of a next-generation gasoline motor known as SKYACTIV-X in 2019. The engine will be the first to utilize a compression ignition throughout the globe.

The new under-the-hood mechanics will offer a smooth transition between spark ignition and compression ignition, delivering a 10-30 percent increase in torque compared to the current SKYACTIV-G motor. On top of this big benefit, the technology will also maximize fuel efficiency by up to 30 percent.

This is just the beginning though, as the automaker looks to drastically lower carbon dioxide emissions by a truly impressive 90 percent by 2050.

Other perks of the plan include making i-ACTIVSENSE advanced safety gear more standard across the Mazda lineup beginning in 2018.
