2017 Mazda CX-5 Earns Top Award

2017 Mazda CX-5 earns top safety award

Just recently, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ award, joining the rest of the Mazda lineup which have also received the prestigious accolade.

The five-passenger crossover is no stranger to winning the honor. This marks the fifth year in a row that the Mazda CX-5 has won the award, highlighting Mazda’s commitment to safety.

“To Mazda, safety is about empowering the driver as much as helping to protect him or her. We’re proud of the accomplishments of the Mazda CX-5 development team and appreciative of the IIHS’s recognition,” said Masashi Otsuka, VP of research and development, MNAO.

Technologies like Smart City Brake Support and standard LED headlights helped the vehicle earn high marks in the IIHS’s ratings. It earned a “good” grade in five crash tests; an “advanced” rating in crash mitigation; and a “good” score for headlight functionality.

The 2017 Mazda CX-5 in Springfield is offered in Sport, Touring, Grand Select and Grand Touring models. Upper trims are available with a wide range of driver-assist technologies, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and mitigation, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Standards include antilock brakes, stability and traction control, antilock brakes and a rearview camera for added convenience.
