Mazda's six-passenger MPV, the Mazda5, has held a place in the North American lineup for 10 solid years, but when the current 2015 model year comes to an end, the minivan is set to take its final bow and drive off into the sunset. The sad news was recently shared by the company in an announcement regarding its roster updates for 2016, which include several slight changes across all models.
Offering sharp handling, exceptional cargo space and first-class maneuverability, the Mazda5 was always a top pick for buyers in search of an affordable compact minivan with great gas mileage. It was ideal for small families and incredibly fun to drive - two qualities that helped establish its fanbase. News about the Mazda5's discontinuation in the U.S. may come as a surprise to fans of the MPV, but with Mazda focused on improving its most popular models and possibly adding new vehicles to the lineup it was a move that needed to be made. There's still a chance the model could resurface in the future, but as of now Mazda doesn't have any plans to continue producing the family hauler.
