Specs at a Glance
If you're considering a new SUV, don't overlook Mazda's latest offerings. While the 2024 Mazda CX-50 is a popular compact choice, the all-new 2024 Mazda CX-70 is ideal for families needing more room to stretch out. Let's take a closer look at how these two SUVs stack up.
Performance
The CX-50 is undeniably fun to drive. Its base model features a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine, producing a satisfying 187 horsepower. For those craving more power, the turbocharged version of this engine offers 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard on all models.
Under the hood of the larger CX-70 is a 3.3-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The standard version produces 280 horsepower, while the high-output variant delivers an exciting 340 horsepower. Additionally, the CX-70 offers a plug-in hybrid powertrain rated at 323 horsepower, which includes an all-electric driving mode. Like the CX-50, the CX-70 features standard AWD. One of the CX-70’s standout features is its impressive 5,000-pound maximum towing capacity.
Appearance
The CX-50 attracts many drivers with its dynamic exterior design. The entry-level trim comes with 17-inch black alloy wheels and LED headlights. For a bolder stance, 20-inch wheels are available. The adventure-ready Turbo Meridian Edition trim features all-terrain tires. Some available exterior colors include Windchill Pearl, Polymetal Gray Metallic, and Soul Red Crystal Metallic.
Though the CX-70 isn’t available in as many trim levels, it still boasts an eye-catching appearance. Optional blacked-out treatments create a dramatic look, and a stunning set of 21-inch alloy wheels can be added for extra flair.
Features
The CX-50 is packed with features to satisfy tech enthusiasts. It comes standard with a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. For an enhanced audio experience, upgrade to the 12-speaker Bose high-performance audio system. Other available features include wireless charging, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats.
The CX-70 comes standard with an even larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and black leather upholstery. This SUV also provides access to Mazda’s new online navigation system.
