Specs at a Glance
The CX-5 has long been a standout in its class, and the 2026 model brings even more to the table. Updates include a redesigned exterior and interior, enhanced technology, and extra room for both passengers and cargo. The new CX-5 features a refreshed front grille, sleek wraparound taillights, and an upgraded cabin with a more premium feel. The lineup remains unchanged, starting with the well-equipped S trim and moving up to the Preferred trim, which adds upscale touches and additional comfort features.
Performance
Both the 2026 CX-5 S and Preferred trims share the same powertrain. A 2.5L four-cylinder engine delivers up to 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The S trim also offers an available powertrain package with selectable drive modes—one focused on performance and another on providing a smoother, more relaxed ride.
Appearance
The 2026 CX-5 S comes equipped with LED headlights featuring automatic on/off, daytime running lights, and high beam control. Standard equipment also includes automatic wipers, LED turn signals integrated into the mirrors, dual exhaust outlets, and a rear roof spoiler. The Preferred trim enhances this with auto-leveling LED headlights, a power liftgate, and rear privacy glass. Both models ride on 17-inch wheels fitted with all-season tires.
Features
Inside, both trims include 12V power outlets, push-button start, and keyless entry. The Preferred trim adds dual-zone automatic climate control and a power moonroof for extra comfort. Cloth seats are standard on the S trim, while the Preferred trim upgrades to leather upholstery. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector are included on both. Technology highlights include a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, two USB-C ports in the S, and two additional USB-A ports in the second row on the Preferred. Safety features include blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning with mitigation, and forward collision warning.
