When Mazda first announced they would release a diesel version of their popular midsize sedan, the Mazda6, in North America, longtime fans of the automaker were excited about the model. The goal was to have the car out on the market by 2013, but emissions issues put the company's plans on hold. At the time, many thought the diesel version would never see the light of day, but just recently, Mazda's North American CEO, Jim O'Sullivan, has revealed that's simply not true.

The Mazda6 has officially hit a new milestone, becoming the second fastest model under the Mazda nameplate to reach three million units of production globally. The incredible feat, which was completed at the end of November 2014, took a total of 12 years and nine months to reach. As the automaker's flagship model, the Mazda6's accomplishment is a huge achievement for the company and an even bigger one for the sedan.

Mazda officially unveiled their all-new 2016 CX-3 compact crossover at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. Equipped with the nameplate's full lineup of SKYACTIV technologies, the fresh model is expected to be an inevitable hit for the company and their extensive roster. The crossover is already the fifth vehicle in Mazda's collection of new-generation models to come completely fitted with SKYACTIV, along with the automaker's signature KODO-Soul of Motion styling.

The Mazda RX saw its final days in 2012, and now almost three years after its demise, the company's CEO, Masamichi Kogai, has confirmed that there are no plans in the future to bring back the RX. The brand would like to use its resources on improving its current seven-car lineup instead in order to take the nameplate to the next level and reestablish Mazda as a top competitor in the automotive market.
