Mazda Engine Not Working

A car that won't start can easily fill a car owner with dread. You may instinctively think that you have a catastrophic problem on your hand that also leads to an expensive repair bill. However, the problem might also be more benign than you think. From a simple problem like a drained fuel tank to more complex electrical issues, these are some common reasons why a car suddenly won't start.

Dead Battery

If the battery in your vehicle dies, the car eventually won't start. The battery is made to last anywhere from 50,000 to 60,000 miles in most cars, or about three years or more. The battery can suffer from several problems that make it wear out sooner or die completely. Leaving the car's lights on can quickly drain the battery's power supply. If the battery is subjected to cold winters or hot summer temperatures, it can easily wear out sooner.

Clogged Engine Fuel Filter

The engine fuel filter in your car can also explain why the car won't start. The engine filter is designed to trap particles and contaminants from the atmosphere before they start circulating in the engine and fuel lines. Contaminants and debris can harm the engine and the mechanical system. They might make the car perform at less than its full capacity, and they can cause the car to stop working altogether. The filter should be changed about every 30,000 miles. A technician can help you figure out if a clogged filter is leading to your problems.

Bad Ignition

The ignition switch that's located on or near the steering wheel or dashboard can also fail and prevent your car from turning on. When you use the key to start the car, the ignition generally responds by sending a signal to the engine. If the ignition is broken, the engine doesn't get the signal needed to start the car. The ignition can be replaced easily by one of our technicians.

Broken Starter

The starter is a small electrical component that helps the engine start. You may hear a clicking sound but notice that the engine doesn't start when you start the car if the starter is broken. A knowledgeable technician can also replace the starter to get your car up and running again.

Empty Fuel Tank

Running out of fuel is a common explanation for a car that won't start. Your car may have a gas gauge that indicates the fuel level. If the tank is empty or the gas gauge is broken, the fuel tank may indicate that the car is out of gasoline.
