Specs at a Glance
The 2021 Mazda CX-9 Sport base trim comes with seven standard seats. Featuring six seats, the Signature is the most expensive model on the CX-9 lineup. Both crossover SUVs have the Skyactiv®-G and i-Activesense® technologies.
Performance
The 2021 CX-9 Sport and Signature runs on a 2.5 L engine built on the Skyactiv®-G platform. When burning regular gasoline, the signature I-4 powertrain generates 227 horsepower. If you fill the fuel tank with premium gas, you'll get an extra 23 hp from this four-cylinder propulsion system that's enhanced by the Dynamic Pressure Turbo technology. The patented turbo engine cranks out 320 lb-ft of peak torque when burning premium fuel. Both CX-9 models run on a six-speed automatic transmission that adopts the latest Skyactiv®-Drive label.
You can also engage the Manual Shift Mode and Sport Mode from the gearbox. Having the trusted i-Activ design, an all-wheel drive with the Off-Road Traction Assist is compatible with the transmission. Both Mazda crossover SUVs have exceptional cornering capabilities because of the G-Vectoring Control Plus, which the conventional Skyactiv®-Vehicle Dynamics power. For their light-duty platforms, these family cars have a solid towing rating of 3,500 pounds.
Appearance
The 2021 CX-9 Sport has a front grille with a bright finish, dual exhaust outlets, and 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. LED technology is integrated into the car's combination of taillights, headlights, and daytime running lights. The High Beam Control is another standard lighting technology on this base model. LED technology controls the Signature's fog lights and grille accent lighting. This high-end trim also flaunts the Titanium Gray Metallic finish on its front grille. Chrome covers the car's front, rear, side, and lower body moldings.
Additionally, the Signature is equipped with roof rails that are treated with the Satin Chrome accents. Exterior color options for the Sport edition include Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Jet Black, and Machine Gray. The Signature model is available in the exclusive Soul Red Metallic color.
Features
A tri-zone automatic climate control system is standard inside the 2021 CX-9 Sport and Signature. A pollen filter is integrated into this advanced HVAC system. Both Mazda crossover SUVs have heated front seats with three custom settings. Ventilated front seats with three settings are available in the Signature model. Both crossover SUVs boast a 10.25-inch infotainment system with the latest MAZDA CONNECT technology. Some exclusive technologies in the Signature trim include the 7.0-inch LCD Meter Display, a wireless phone charger, and the Bose Centerpoint 2 sound system.
