What's New For the 2020 Mazda CX-9?
There are several exciting changes to come to the CX-9 in 2020. Included on all models now is the i-Activsense driver assistance suite. Previously, this was only an available option for the entry-level model. For the first time ever, drivers can choose a six-seater version of this SUV with second-row captain's chairs. Upper trims are also adding a hands-free power liftgate. These models also get a third-row USB charging port so that everyone can keep their gear juiced up on long journeys. Finally, models equipped with all-wheel-drive are getting off-road traction-assist to make them even safer.

What Features are Available for 2020?
There are four different trim levels to choose from when shopping for the Mazda CX-9. They are known as the Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature. No matter which trim level they select, drivers will get a user-friendly infotainment system. The Sport trim features a 7" screen while all other models get an 8" screen. Bluetooth and satellite radio are both standard across the board. The seats easily fold down flat when the CX-9 is hauling cargo instead of passengers. All trim levels are packed with comfort and convenience features. Examples include three-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, and steering-wheel-mounted phone, audio, and cruise controls. Found on the top-of-the-line Signature trim are touches like a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror and navigation.
2020 Mazda X-9Powertrain Options
One of the most exciting changes for the 2020 Mazda CX-9 involves the engine. It is a 2.5-liter turbo-four like before. However, while it still makes 250-horsepower, drivers can now fill it with premium gas to get 320 lb-ft of torque. Using regular gas will drop this number down slightly, to 310 lb-ft. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission featuring manual-shift as well as Sport Mode. This vehicle comes standard with front-wheel-drive but can be upgraded to all-wheel-drive.
Packed with Safety Features
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has awarded the 2020 CX-9 with five stars. This is thanks in part to the standard i-Activsense driver assistance suite. With this, the SUV gains adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning featuring lane keep assist, as well as automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The CX-9 also receives blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. All models have a rearview camera, with upper models gaining a 360-degree monitor. Also standard for all models of the 2020 CX-9 is dynamic stability control featuring both a traction control system and trailer sway control.
