What's New For the 2021 Mazda3?
The Mazda3 - which is available as a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback - welcomes two engines for the 2021 model year in addition to the one that has been in use throughout the nameplate's fourth production cycle. This enhancement retains the Mazda3 position as the vehicle to beat in the compact car segment.
Which Features Are Available for 2021?
Four trim levels are available: base, Select, Preferred, and Premium. Although the hatchback version omits the Select trim level, its 20.1 cubic feet of standard cargo space surpasses the 13.2 cubic feet on the sedan. Two cloth-trimmed rows provide a maximum occupancy of five, and remote keyless entry combines with push-button start to make entry and engine staring a breeze. The cabin includes integrating an eight-speaker audio system, HD Radio, a pair of USB ports, Bluetooth, and an 8.8-inch screen for infotainment. The Select trim level welcomes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, synthetic leather seat trim, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto smartphone integration, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an upgrade to proximity keyless entry.
The Preferred trim level gains front-seat heating, eight-way power adjustability on the driver's seat, a trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, and a 12-speaker Bose stereo system that replaces the eight-speaker setup. For the ultimate sporty yet convenience aura, go with the top-of-the-line Premium, the seats of which Mazda transforms with racing-style leather. Also, Mazda adds a moonroof for letting in air and light when needed.

What's Under the Hood of the Mazda3?
The two new inline four-cylinder (I4) engines now available on the Mazda3 provide zippy acceleration, in addition to the vehicle's already-established lithe handling. You can choose between a 155-horsepower 2.0-liter and a larger and more powerful 250-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter. Each workhorse is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission for smooth shifts, and they are in addition to the longstanding 2.5-liter I4 with 186 horsepower.
2021 Brings a Wide Selection of Safety Tech
The 2021 Mazda3 provides several driver-assistance features at the base level, including lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, a driver condition monitor, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, and a rearview camera. Six airbags provide protection when there's a crash. Go for at least the Select to add a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert, or the Premium for the exclusive head-up display.
