It’s been noticeably absent from Mazda models on the North American market for some time now, but it turns out the automaker does have plans to introduce the engine here in the coming future.

The Northwest Automotive Press Association held their annual “Mudfest” event just last month, where a number of vehicles endured two days of rigorous evaluations as a part of the organization’s Activity Vehicle of the Year competition. The 2016 Mazda CX-3 was just one of the many crossovers put through both on-road and off-road testing, but it was the only one to be named “Best Compact Utility Vehicle” and “Outdoor Activity Vehicle of the Year.”
